Kanu's family has accused the UK's three foreign secretaries—Liz Truss, Dominic Raab, and now James Cleverly—of illegally failing to take action.
At a later time, Justice Swift of the High Court will issue a written ruling addressing the judicial review appeal made against the Foreign Secretary on behalf of separatist leader Nnamdi Kanu.
Why it's important: Remember that in June 2021, Kanu, a British-Nigerian national and the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a well-known separatist organisation banned in Nigeria, was apprehended and detained in Kenya before being transported on a private plane to Nigeria.
